Card markers from game boxes have a short life. They bend, they fray at the edges, they are awkward to pick up off the table, and after a few dozen games you can tell them by the dents and creases. A plastic token with a strong shape solves all three troubles at once: it is easy to pick up with the fingers, it holds its shape on a board and it does not get crushed in a storage tray. The green shade moreover fits the meaning in a good many games, because it tends to be associated with poison, magical energy, mutation or growth, so a role for it is easy to find.
For players of fantasy board and tabletop games who want tougher and better-looking markers at the table than the ones they found in the box. The tokens are not tied to any particular game. The number of pieces, the size and the material are given by the manufacturer on the packaging. The color and the shape follow from the name, and in the role of a game marker those are what decide.
