A coating compound in the shade of asphalt, thinnable with water and without toxic components. It is applied with a brush and one bottle covers roughly 0.84 to 1.11 square meters.
Responsibility details are not available.
The most common mistake with a model road is to reach for black. A real bituminous surface has a gray color with a warm cast, and the older it is, the more it fades. This coating aims at exactly that tone, so a roadway does not come across as a freshly poured sheet of tar.
The compound is thinned with water, it holds no toxic components and it is applied with a brush. One bottle covers approximately 0.84 to 1.11 square meters, that is, at a roadway width of fifteen centimeters, roughly five to seven meters of continuous road. For an ordinary diorama it will do even with a reserve for repairs.
The base should be smooth and rid of dust and grease. It is applied in two thin layers instead of one thick one; the first layer closes the texture of the base, the second unifies the shade. Between them the area has to be left to dry properly.
A more interesting result arises when the second layer is not applied over the whole area. Places left out at the shoulder and lighter bands in the tracks of wheels imitate the way a surface ages unevenly. A darker band from drips belongs in the middle of a roadway, and a deposit of dust at the edges instead.
Besides roads and parking lots the coating finds a use in yards, on the areas by depots and everywhere a paved surface without concrete joints is wanted. The water-thinnable composition means that a brush is washed out under the tap and no smell of solvents is left in a room.
