Tamiya TS-72 Clear Blue is a spray paint from the TS range, which is made up of synthetic lacquers. The can holds 100 ml and dries quickly. One can covers roughly two to three car bodies in 1:24 scale. The shade is clear blue, that is, transparent and tinting.

What it is and what it is not

Clear Blue is a transparent lacquer with no covering power. It does not serve to paint a part fully but to tint and color the surface beneath, for example for the effect of tinted glass, beacons and lights or to gain depth over a metallic or chrome finish. Over a white base it gives a deeper tone; over a dark one it hardly changes the color at all. Anyone looking for an opaque blue should reach for a full paint rather than the Clear range.

Use

• Apply it in thin coats; the depth grows with the number of passes.
• Ideal over a smooth glossy base (metallic, chrome, gloss lacquer).
• Tamiya lacquers do not attack acrylic or enamel layers, so details can be finished in enamel or acrylic.
• Not suitable for the transparent polycarbonate (Lexan) bodies of RC models.

For modelers who tint clear parts, lights and beacons or create color effects over a gloss finish.

The spray is flammable. Work in a well-ventilated space, away from sources of fire, ideally with a respirator.
