The second position of the tropical cloth has a number of its own in the Lifecolor acrylic line: German uniforms Tropical Tan 2 matches cloth that already has the African sun behind it.
Responsibility details are not available.
Within the German uniforms group Lifecolor offers the tropical cloth under two numbers, and this is the second. This water-based acrylic paint thereby handles a situation one shade cannot manage: a uniform deployed in North Africa did not stay looking the same for a single month. The sun, the sand, sweat and washing shifted it into a lighter and flatter position until it differed from a newly issued garment at a glance.
How the two numbers work together
You will reach the most convincing result if you do not use them separately. Lay the base down in the tone closer to new cloth and leave the second position where the uniform would really have faded, on the shoulders, on the upper faces of the sleeves, on the back and on the edges of the folds. A natural transition appears instead of a uniform surface, and it gives the figure time and a story.
Fading on cloth has no sharp boundaries. Whereas the painted surface of a vehicle is rubbed into clearly bounded patches, wool cloth changes tone gradually. Lead the transitions softly, then, and keep the contrast lower than you would use on the hull of an armored vehicle.
For modelers of figures, busts and dioramas from the North African theater who want to show a uniform in service and not as an issue sample from the stores.
Stir the paint before work, work in a well-ventilated room and keep it out of the reach of children.
