The warm brown shade Regia Aeronautica Nocciola 4 belongs to the palette the Regia Aeronautica used during the Second World War. The Italian word nocciola means hazelnut and the color matches it: it is a mid brown with a yellowish undertone that worked as a camouflage base over the Mediterranean and North African landscape.
Italian camouflage was built differently from the American two-color finish with green above and gray below. Onto a lighter brown-yellow ground, blotches, rings or stripes of darker colors were applied, so the result read far more restless than uniform areas. On a number of machines the brown position formed exactly that ground on which the drawing itself only then arose. The number in the name is part of the period Italian naming of the shade, not a conversion into another coding system.
It suits modelers who build the machines of the Regia Aeronautica and want the period palette together in one acrylic range. Because this is a generally usable mid brown, it will also serve outside Italian subjects, anywhere an earthy tone without a pronounced shift toward red is wanted.
Store the container well closed and out of the reach of children, and ventilate when working in an enclosed space.
