Ultramarine from the Abteilung 502 acrylic line. It is a saturated, deep blue which the painter's palette knows and which in modeling finds a use on accessories, textiles, fantasy and science fiction subjects and as a pronounced component for mixes of your own. The binder is acrylic and it is thinned with water or a thinner for acrylics.
The greatest difference against oil paints is time. Acrylic sets on the palette within a few minutes, on the model even faster, and as soon as it begins to stiffen it can no longer be spread without the coat beneath being torn away. Anyone who wants to work with the paint longer has three options: a wet palette, which moistens the paint from below, a preparation that extends the working time, or simply mixing smaller amounts more often. When mixing two colors directly on the model it pays to work quickly and over a small area. Conversely, the advantage of quick setting is that the next coat can be applied shortly after the previous one and the work proceeds fast, which helps a great deal with layered transitions.
For modelers and figure painters who find the quick pace of acrylics suits them and who layer paint in thin coats. Anyone who needs a long time to spread and softly blend directly on the model will reach rather for an oil paint.
Close the bottle carefully after use and stir the contents before applying. Ventilate and protect your airways when spraying. Keep out of the reach of children and protect from frost.
