The item is an emblem plaque for a diorama and a display case, not a kit and not a model of a vehicle. It is fitted to the base of a finished model, to the edge of a scene or to a caption in a collection. The size of 40 mm is set by the name; the manufacturer also makes the same emblem in a smaller 25 mm form, so you choose the format according to how large a base you are describing.
The American 4th Infantry Division, nicknamed Ivy after the ivy leaf in its emblem, landed on Utah Beach on the sixth of June 1944 as the first infantry formation to get ashore in Normandy that day. There followed the fight for Cherbourg, the breakthrough at Saint-Lo, the heavy and exhausting engagement in the Hürtgen Forest and commitment in the Ardennes Offensive. Its emblem therefore belongs among those most often recalled on models of American equipment from the Western Front, and it suits scenes from the landing beach to the winter fighting on the borders of Germany.
With Normandy dioramas featuring sand and water, count on glossy surfaces in the surroundings - a matte plaque will stand out on them better than on further gloss. With winter Ardennes scenes, on the other hand, fit it only after the snow effects are finished. In both cases level and degrease the area under the plaque and let the ground cure completely before fitting, so that the edge does not stand away in time.
