Metal window items for building wooden ship models, supplied as a separate accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
These are metal window items intended for wooden ship models. The Spanish word ventanas means windows, and the name also suggests the material: the items are metal, not plastic. They are set into openings in the sides of a superstructure or the stern according to the plan of the model being built and they replace windows that could only be imitated in wood with difficulty. A ready-made metal item holds its size and shape better than an opening cut in wood.
First draw the opening out according to the plan, drill it and widen it carefully with a file so that the item seats without pressure. Keep trying it dry, as wood cannot be put back afterward. Metal is glued to wood with super glue or epoxy; cement for plastic kits does not work here. Apply it sparingly around the perimeter, so that it does not run onto the visible side. When you are fitting several windows side by side, it pays to prepare a simple template from a strip of paper, so that the whole row keeps the same height and spacing.
Wash and degrease the metal surface before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. Use a base coat suitable for metal and only then the shade with which the model is finished. If you want to keep the metal look, at least free the items of fingerprints and protect them from further sanding of the surrounding area. Glazing is handled separately, most often with clear film from the inside.
The metal items alone are supplied. The ship model, glue, paints and glazing film are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
