Není. Místo vlasu má na konci houbičku a slouží k nanášení weatheringových past a pigmentů tupováním. Na běžné malování barvou nebo na tahy štětcem se nehodí — na to použijte klasický modelářský štětec.

Medium má větší houbičku: pokryje větší plochu a zanechává hrubší, výraznější strukturu efektu. Fine je jemnější a míří na drobný detail a decentnější patinu. Když patinujete celé boky, křídla nebo pojezd, sáhněte po Medium.

Je určen především pro weatheringové pasty a suché pigmenty. Tamiya jej vyvinula ke své weatheringové sadě, prakticky ale funguje i se sypkými pigmenty jiných výrobců.

Po suchých pigmentech stačí houbičku vyklepat a případně otřít o čistý hadřík. Zbytky se z houbičky nikdy nevyperou úplně, proto se vyplatí mít samostatný aplikátor na světlé a samostatný na tmavé odstíny.
