Wooden oak boards “1/48 ” 50 Pieces

Oak boards in 1:48 scale, 50 pieces

This is not a kit but diorama material. According to the name the package contains 50 boards of oak wood, cut in a proportion matching 1:48 scale. Unlike plastic or printed imitations this is real wood, so it has a pattern of its own that you do not have to paint; all you need is to bring it out with a stain or a wash. You will use them for floors, boarding, fence sections, pallets, ramps and other features of dioramas.

Use

• The boards can be shortened with a sharp knife or a modeling saw; oak is hard, so make the cut in several light strokes to keep the end from breaking.
• Before gluing, leave them for a few hours in the place where the diorama will stand, as wood works with humidity.
• Glue them with PVA wood glue or with super glue depending on the surface; on plastic super glue holds more reliably.
• Painting wood is done with thinned shades or with a stain, so that the pattern stays visible; an opaque coat would cancel out the advantage of real wood.
• You will give it an aged look with a dark wash in the joints and a light dry brush across the edges, or by carefully disturbing the surface with a wire brush.

Who the material is for

For builders of dioramas and display scenes in 1:48 scale who want wooden features made of the genuine material. Fifty pieces in the package are enough for a smaller scene or for several details in a larger composition. Working with the boards calls for no special equipment, only a sharp knife, glue and patience in lining up the joints.

This is diorama material, not a model. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package. The exact dimensions of the individual boards are stated on the box.
