The best known British camouflage of the Second World War in four bottles, complemented by the very dark shade of night machines.
Responsibility details are not available.
The temperate land scheme is the best known British pattern of the Second World War. The upper surfaces were covered by an irregular pattern of two tones, a dark green and a dark earth brown, drawn from two mirror-image templates known as pattern A and pattern B. Which aircraft got which was usually decided by the serial number.
The undersurfaces went through several changes during the war. In the package you will find the light Sky tone, introduced across the board from 1941, and a very dark blue-black shade for night operations, of the kind carried by machines of the night fighter squadrons. The four therefore serve the Hurricane Mk.I, the Spitfire Mk.V, the Blenheim, the Wellington and the slow Lysander alike.
The paints dry to matte and are adapted mainly for application with an airbrush. Factory British patterns had surprisingly sharp transitions, because they were sprayed through rubber masks, whereas field repaints are blurred. Choose the pressure and the distance of the nozzle from the surface accordingly.
The light undersurface tone is among the shades that shift slightly toward green under varnish. Try it on an offcut of sprue first, before you reach for a finished fuselage.
The basic areas are followed by typical details: a light band around the rear fuselage, a colored propeller spinner and roundels in several forms at once. Their shades and their size changed several times during the war, so it pays to compare the decal sheet with the date you are building the model to. The paints in the package deal with the basic areas, so you choose the additional markings according to the particular squadron and period.
