Six figure acrylics for the uniforms of American paratroopers of the Second World War, from green-yellow to olive drab and ocher.
Responsibility details are not available.
The jump uniform of American airborne units differed from the ordinary infantry uniform in its reinforced elbows and knees and its large patch pockets. The fabric had a greenish olive tone, but after a few jumps, rain and nights in the French hedgerows it changed: it faded to a yellow-green, lightened on the shoulders and stayed darker in the folds. It is exactly this spread that the six shades cover, where alongside the base olive drab stand a gray khaki tone, a violet-leaning green for shadows, a light ocher and a sandy color for the most bleached-out places.
The procedure is the usual one for a historical miniature: a base in the darkest tone, then gradual layering of lighter transitions onto the raised areas. The paints are formulated for brush work, have a longer open time and can be blended wet directly on the figure. They are thinned with water, and for smooth transitions a drop on a wet palette is enough.
Besides paratroopers the set will serve for infantry, vehicle crews and field accessories such as tarpaulins, packs and gun covers. The shades mix well with the same manufacturer's flesh tones and also complement them when painting photo-etched equipment.
