XS15 - Hellenic Air Force Set 1

The Lifecolor paint set Hellenic Air Force Set 1

A themed set of modeling paints from Lifecolor aimed at the aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force. The number in the name places it as the first volume of a subject that a continuation follows on from. The set is put together for a circle of subjects, not for a single type of aircraft, so you will cover more models from the same environment with it.

What environment the subject relates to

The Hellenic Air Force is one of the smaller European air forces with a long history, and its machines carried different camouflage schemes in different periods, adapted to the Mediterranean environment and to the allied habits of the time. For a modeler that means a general aviation palette is often not enough and it is more practical to reach for a selection put together directly for this circle. A themed set leaves the decision about the particular scheme to the modeler: it supplies matched shades, while the layout of the camouflage itself is something everyone works out from the references for the given subject.

Use and tips

• Stir the bottles thoroughly before work, the pigment settles to the bottom.
• Apply several thin layers rather than one heavy one.
• Handle thinning, cleaning and the recommended base according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.
• Combine the shades from one set with one another, the model then holds a uniform tone.
• Let the base layer dry out well and only then deal with the shadows and the transitions.

Who the set is for

The set suits modelers of aircraft who take an interest in less usual operators of machines and want the matching paints for the subject together. Collectors who build a series of models from one country and need to hold a uniform tone across them will appreciate it too.

Keep out of the reach of children, in well closed bottles, and ventilate the area while you work.
