YELLOW RAL 1003 – RC MARKER

Signal yellow to RAL 1003

A marker of the RC Marker line in a shade whose name ties it to the RAL chart: number 1003 there corresponds to signal yellow. A reference to a standardized chart is useful for a modeler, because it allows the shade to be compared with documentation and with the paints of other ranges without having to rely on the name of the color alone. The paint is applied straight from the tip of the marker.

Where the color is used

Signal yellow appears on equipment wherever something is meant to be seen: on warning stripes and edging, on handles and levers, on covers that are opened in service, on markings and numbers or on small gear on a diorama. On a model these are almost always small areas, that is exactly the work for which it is not worth opening a bottle and washing a brush.

Recommended procedure

• Try the shade on an offcut of plastic until you know how the mark looks on that base.
• Wash and degrease the area before painting.
• Draw a thin layer and let it dry, and only then repeat it.
• On a dark base yellow covers weakly, so a light undercoat beneath it helps.
• Define a straight edge with masking tape, the tip will not hold it on its own.
• Store the marker closed, so that the tip does not dry out.

What is supplied is the marker in the shade stated. The model, masking tape, further shades and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Work in a well ventilated room and keep the marker out of reach of children.
