Rigging thread 0.05 mm in diameter for ship models. Intended for the fine rigging that cannot be replaced by a plastic part on a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
On ship models the rigging is among the most conspicuous things a viewer sees, and at the same time among the weakest points of a finished kit. A thin thread 0.05 mm in diameter makes it possible to run fine lines where thicker cord would look coarse: between the masts and yards of a sailing ship, to the antennas and signal halyards of more modern vessels, or to secure small items on deck. The diameter is given in the name and it is the thickness of the thread itself.
A thread of this diameter is almost imperceptible to the touch, so have tweezers, sharp scissors and good lighting ready, ideally a magnifier as well. Unwind only as much as you need at that moment and secure the end so that the material does not tangle. The quantity supplied and the material of the thread are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
Finish and paint the model first, because spraying over taut rigging is difficult. Pass the thread through a hole or wind it around a fitting, tension it slightly and secure the end with a tiny drop of cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a toothpick. Once it has set, snip the excess off as close to the joint as you can. Work from the bottom up and from the stern toward the bow, so that you do not knock down lines you have already finished. The joints can be blended into their surroundings with a dot of paint at the end.
Glue, paints and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
