An injection-molded plastic kit of the European attack aircraft Panavia Tornado IDS in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The IDS version (Interdictor/Strike) was intended for strikes on ground targets and for penetrating defenses at low altitude. It is a two-seat machine with swing wings. The Tornado was a combat aircraft developed in cooperation between Great Britain, Germany and Italy joined in the Panavia consortium. It was marked by a variable-geometry wing and a pair of engines; it was designed for a fast penetration to the target close above the terrain, with terrain-following automation. The IDS strike version carried a wide range of bombs and guided weapons and formed the backbone of the strike forces of the participating countries for decades. Its crew consisted of a pilot and a weapons operator in a tandem cockpit.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint and accentuate the tandem cockpit before closing the fuselage, and mask the clear glazing while spraying. Pay attention to the mechanism of the swing wings and to the fit of the air intakes. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and bring out the panel lines with a wash. Fine-tune the external stores at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
