The designation in the name refers to the French 1944 configuration. This is not the supply variant of the vehicle, but a combat conversion with a gun superstructure.

The real subject

The Lorraine 37L chassis comes from a French tracked armored supply vehicle of the second half of the 1930s. Its low, simple and mechanically reliable hull proved a suitable basis for conversions — a supply carrier thus became a platform for the most varied superstructures. Self-propelled guns of this kind usually had an open fighting compartment above the rear of the hull, which meant low weight and quick production at the cost of limited protection for the crew.

Building and painting tips

On this type of vehicle you can see into the open superstructure, so finish and paint the inside of the fighting compartment first and only then close the superstructure up. In 1:100 scale the parts are small — work over a mat with a raised edge and use tweezers. Choose the glue according to the material: thin modeling cement for injection-molded plastic, super glue for resin. Lighten the base color slightly so that the model does not look flat in a small scale, and keep the weathering restrained — a dark wash in the lines and a light dusting on the running gear.
