The brand has made a whole family of variants of this vehicle and the individual items differ precisely in the type of turret, which is given right in the name, so choose carefully by the designation. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. We recommend checking the number of parts, the material and the contents of the package before buying.
The Panhard 178 was a four-wheeled armored car of the French army, introduced in the second half of the 1930s as a reconnaissance vehicle for cavalry units. The vehicle had a crew of four, all-wheel drive and a rotating turret with a cannon completed by a machine gun. During its service several projects arose to arm the vehicle with a heavier weapon, and one of them was exactly the APX 5 turret. The model therefore captures one of the less usual forms of the type, which you will hardly find among ordinary kits.
Cut the small parts in 1:100 scale off with a sharp knife right on the surface so that they do not get lost; it pays to work over a flat tray. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: thin cement for plastic on plastic, cyanoacrylate on resin. Do not glue the turret down permanently straight away; a turret set in place dry is easier to paint and easier to check for fit. Apply the paint in thin layers, so that the fine engraving on the hull is not flooded. Bring the detail out with a dark wash into the seams and a fine accenting of the edges; on the wheels and the lower hull use dust and mud effects, which give a small model a convincing sense of scale.
