Injection-molded plastic kit of the Yamaha XV1600 Road Star touring motorcycle in 1:12 scale from Tamiya. The model captures the big V-twin, the low cruiser line and the richly chromed details. The individual parts are joined with real screws and two kinds of plated parts are included for a faithful rendering of chrome and polished metal. The real machine is a typical member of the cruiser class, that is a comfortable road machine with the emphasis on style.
The Road Star is a cruiser built around a big air-cooled V-twin of around 1600 cc. The rear shock is hidden so that the motorcycle looks like a classic rigid frame without suspension, which underlines its low, long silhouette. The machine goes for plenty of chrome and a nostalgic American style, which puts it among the popular touring cruisers of the turn of the millennium.
On a cruiser, the chrome and the glossy paint of the tank take the most work. Glue the chromed parts carefully with cyanoacrylate glue so that the surface does not go dull, and protect them from fingerprints. Spray the tank and the fenders with an airbrush to a high gloss and let them cure thoroughly. Bring out the engine and the transmission with a fine wash so that the cooling fins of the V-twin stand out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
