A plastic kit of the Boeing 720 airliner in 1:144 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing 720 was a lightened and shortened derivative of the Boeing 707 airliner. It was created for medium-range routes and for airports with shorter runways, it carried four jet engines slung on pylons under the wing, and in the 1960s it appeared with a number of carriers on both sides of the Atlantic. It thus belongs to the first jet generation, which replaced the piston airliners.
The plastic kit in 1:144 scale is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The parts are held on sprues; the builder cuts them off, cleans them up, glues them together and paints them according to the instructions. Both the span and the length of the finished model work out at around 28 cm, so it fits even into a smaller display case.
An airliner is a test of clean work, because its surfaces are smooth and without camouflage. Fill the fuselage seams and the wing leading edges and sand them down step by step with finer grits. Before you start spraying, polish the surface: gloss and metal shades show every unevenness. The cockpit glazing tends to be small in this scale, so have tweezers and a glue for clear parts ready. Decals on plastic kits are soaked in water, and on the long fuselage lines they settle better with a decal softener.
The set will please collectors of airliners in a uniform 1:144 scale as well as modelers who want to practice smooth gloss finishes. The paint and marking list is in the instructions. Paints, glue, filler and other materials are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
