A decal sheet from the Hungarian manufacturer HAD models for a model of the twin-engine Lisunov Li-2 airliner in the colors of the Hungarian carrier MALÉV, in 1:144 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model that you buy separately. According to the manufacturer the sheet is drawn to the shape of one particular available kit of this type, so on a model from a different tool it may call for slight adjustment.
The Lisunov Li-2 is the Soviet license-built version of the American Douglas DC-3 airliner, adapted for Soviet production. It is an all-metal low-wing monoplane with two radial engines, retractable landing gear and a tailwheel. After the Second World War it became the backbone of civil air transport in eastern Europe, and in Hungary it was among the first aircraft of the restored scheduled network. Its sturdy construction and its tolerance of poor airfields gave it a long life even after more modern types came in.
Finish the model with gloss clear coat and apply the decals only onto it, as the tiny designs in 1:144 scale will otherwise silver. Cut them out close to the artwork, carry them with tweezers or on the tip of a damp brush and soak the water up once they are in place. Check the position dry before sticking them down, above all at the window band and the name of the airline on the fuselage, because that is exactly where any difference between tools shows most. At the wing transitions and the engine nacelles use a decal softener. Choose the final varnish according to the character of the livery, and for a polished metal finish rather gloss or semi-matte.
This is a decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
