A set of resin landing gear wheels for Grumman F-14D Tomcat kits in 1:144 scale from the Czech maker Brengun. The castings replace the original plastic parts and bring finer drawing of the hubs and the tires, which lifts the overall impression of the landing gear areas of a model.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was an American carrier-based fighter with a variable-geometry wing, famous for its service aboard the aircraft carriers of the US Navy. The F-14D Super Tomcat version was the culmination of the development of the type - it was given more powerful engines, an upgraded radar and new avionics. The massive landing gear of the Tomcat is sized for hard landings on a deck and its wheels are among the clearly visible details even in a small scale.
Separate the wheels from the casting block with a sharp blade or a fine saw, sand the cut surfaces lightly and work with respiratory protection. Glue with a drop of super glue. Paint the tires a very dark gray and the hubs usually white with a fine wash that brings out the structure. On carrier machines light dirt from service looks convincing.
This is an accessory, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted; the basic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
