This set from the Polish brand MASTER contains a turned metal pitot tube and 20 mm cannon barrels for models of the Northrop F-5 light fighter aircraft in 1:144 scale. It is intended for versions with the classic, that is unenlarged, nose, as carried by the F-5A versions and the corresponding F-5E and F-5F machines. It is not a kit of an airplane, but an accessory with which you replace the plastic parts on a model you have already bought.
The Northrop F-5 is a light supersonic fighter aircraft powered by a pair of jet engines. It was created as a simple type, undemanding in service and affordable, intended above all for foreign users. The older single-seat version carried the designation Freedom Fighter, the later modernized line the name Tiger II. The cannon armament is placed in the forward part of the fuselage, where it emerges at the sides of the nose, and it is exactly the shape of the nose that is the main distinguishing feature between the individual versions. The aircraft is still used today for training and for simulating an adversary in air combat practice.
In 1:144 scale plastic tubes and cannon muzzles are necessarily exaggeratedly thick and often break during clean-up. The metal part is therefore a marked improvement. Cut the plastic stub off, level the area and drill the hole with the finest micro drill bit you have. Glue the metal with a minimal amount of cyanoacrylate glue. The safest procedure is to set the tube and the barrels in only after the model has been painted and clear coated, when there is no longer a risk of catching on them. Until then store the parts in a closeable box, as in this scale they really are tiny.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
