Arabic Woman and Boy, a pair of civilian figures in 1:16 scale from MAiM. An intimate pair that gives a civilian scene its center of gravity.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pair of civilian figures from MAiM: an adult woman and a boy. The pairing of an adult figure with a child is one of the strongest compositional elements in civilian dioramas, because it immediately suggests a relationship and gives a scene emotion without anything further having to be explained. The 1:16 scale provides plenty of room for detailed painting of both figures.
The pair comes into its own on a street, at a market, by a stop or in a yard, anywhere you want to hold the viewer's eye on a human motive. The smaller figure of the boy also helps to anchor the scale of the surrounding props and vehicles. The figures can be freely combined with other civilian figures from MAiM in 1:16 scale and built up into larger groups.
Clean the castings up, wash them and prime them. In terms of color it pays to tie the two figures together: a small shared accent, in the color of an accessory or of the clothing, will visually link the pair. Bring out the folds of the cloth with a wash and shade the faces with oil paints; for the child's figure choose lighter, more delicate skin tones. A matte clear coat at the end.
The figures are supplied unpainted, as castings to be cleaned up and painted; glue and paints are not included in the package.
