Aber – German star antenna Sternantenne D, 1.8 m (1:16) is a metal detail set that replaces the simplified antenna of command vehicles with a realistic turned and photo-etched imitation.
Responsibility details are not available.
This metal detail set from the Polish maker Aber in 1:16 scale faithfully imitates the German star antenna Sternantenne D, 1.8 meters long on the real thing. It is not a model of a vehicle but an accessory that replaces the coarse plastic or wire antenna from the base kit with an accurate turned and photo-etched imitation.
The Sternantenne D was the characteristic star antenna of German armored command vehicles of the Second World War. Its typical shape with a branched head served for radio communication and is one of the recognition features of command tanks. A faithful rendering therefore lifts the character of a model considerably.
Separate the metal parts from the fret and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The antenna is set into the antenna mount on the hull. Consider strengthening the joint before gluing, and once it is painted use a matte varnish so that the metal looks painted.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
