1:16 Tiger I, E Tunisia 501 abt. - Turret storage bin is a photo-etched detail set for building the storage bin on the rear of the turret of the Tiger I tank in 1:16 scale. It is an accessory for a model, not a tank kit.

This item is not a tank kit but a photo-etched detail set in 1:16 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It serves to build the storage bin placed on the rear of the turret, in the version corresponding to the machines of the 501st battalion deployed in Tunisia. Photo-etched sheet makes it possible to produce the walls of the bin in a thickness that is correct for the scale, including the fittings, hinges and brackets that in a plastic casting tend to be only suggested.
The Tiger I Ausf. E was a German heavy tank built from 1942. The bin on the rear of the turret served to carry the crew's personal kit and small items of equipment, and it became such a typical feature that production batches as well as individual deployments can be told apart by it. Machines operating in North Africa had a number of small differences in their external equipment compared with the later batches, and that applies to the treatment of this bin as well.
Photo-etched sheet is bent in a bending tool or between two metal rulers, always along the scored line and in one movement, so that the material does not start to crack. Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not by twisting. They are attached with cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a wire; on larger areas soldering is cleaner. Before painting, degrease the brass and use a primer intended for metal. At the end it is a good idea to pick the sharp edges of the bin out discreetly with a dry brush and to underline the transitions with a dark wash.
This is an accessory set, not a model of the tank. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
