Aber 1:16 Tiger II Henschel Vol.3 – Anti Mine Mesh is a photo-etched set of antimine wire screens (Drahtgeflecht) for a large scale model of the Tiger II tank with the Henschel turret.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched brass detail set from Aber in 1:16 scale for the Tiger II heavy tank in the version with the Henschel turret. The set reproduces the fine wire screen (Drahtgeflecht) that in reality was fitted over the cooling grilles of the engine compartment as protection against hand mines and grenades being thrown in. It is an accessory, not a tank kit.
The Tiger II (Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B, Königstiger) was built with two types of turret; the production Henschel turret had a flat front plate. The protective antimine screens over the engine deck were a typical late addition to these vehicles and, in a fine large scale, show to advantage only when made from photo-etched metal.
Separate the parts carefully from the fret, bend the fine mesh exactly to the shape of the grilles and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer. An airbrush is ideal.
The set is an accessory, not a model. The kit of the tank, glues and paints are not included in the package.
