The set from the Greek manufacturer GasPatch holds two resin replicas of the German Spandau LMG 08/15 aircraft machine gun, in the version with an extended loading handle. The large 1:16 scale allows an exceptional level of detail. The package is an accessory for modelers, not a kit of an airplane in its own right.
The Spandau LMG 08/15 was the air-cooled aircraft version of the Maxim system machine gun in 7.92 mm caliber. It made up the basic fixed, forward-firing synchronized armament of the great majority of German fighters of the Great War. The extended loading handle made working the weapon from the pilot's position easier. The casting captures the perforated barrel jacket and the mechanism of the weapon.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand with respiratory protection. In a large scale, shades of oxidized steel, fine dry-brushing and a discreet patina come out well.
This is a resin detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package.
