According to the name, the set contains four R-27ET air-to-air guided missiles cast in resin for 1:32 scale. The R-27 is among the most demanding external stores in terms of shape, because it has prominent forward control surfaces with a characteristic broken outline. Those are exactly the parts that plastic kits render thickened and simplified, whereas a resin casting keeps them thin and sharp. The set is an accessory, not a model of an aircraft.
The R-27 is a family of medium-range air-to-air guided missiles developed for fighter aircraft of Eastern design. The version marked with the letters ET combines infrared homing on the heat signature of the target with a lengthened motor that gives it greater range than the basic version. In the NATO code designation this version corresponds to Alamo-D. The missiles are carried on the underwing and fuselage stations of modern fighter aircraft, and their distinctive silhouette is one of the recognition features of the external stores configuration of these machines.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of the mold release residue. Cut off the casting blocks with a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the rest down. Watch out for the thin control surfaces, they break off easily. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); plastic cement has no effect on resin. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. Apply a primer before painting and only then the base shade; a fine wash will bring out the joint between the seeker head and the body of the missile.
The set is an accessory, not a kit of a whole aircraft. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
