A plastic kit of the four-masted barque Krusenstern in 1:200 scale from Zvezda. The package contains injection-molded plastic parts, thread for the rigging, vacuum-formed sails and decals. The split hull has the texture of planking rendered on it, the deck has a wood pattern, and the model offers detailed superstructures and propellers. This is a more demanding build suited to more experienced modelers.
The Krusenstern is a four-masted barque built in Germany in 1926, originally under the name Padua. After the Second World War she passed under a new flag as war reparations and was renamed. To this day she serves as a sail training ship and is among the largest active sailing ships in the world. She is distinguished by her extensive square rig and her imposing silhouette.
Glue the hull and the superstructures with modeling cement for plastic, and the thread rigging and fine parts with cyanoacrylate. It is best to follow the rigging plan and to work patiently. The vacuum-formed sails can be gently shaped for the impression of filling with wind. The wooden surfaces of the deck and the hull are best painted in wood shades and lightly weathered. A stand and a display case suit it for display.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
