Masking stencils for the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 in 1:24. They cover the angular framing of the canopy from both sides and add five shapes for national insignia.
Responsibility details are not available.
The E-3 version was the form of the Messerschmitt with which the German fighter force went into the fighting over France and England. It received a pair of twenty-millimeter cannons in the wing, which made it the most heavily armed single-seat fighter of its day, if at the price of a slow rate of fire and a small supply of ammunition. The Daimler Benz engine with direct fuel injection allowed the nose to be pushed down sharply without the engine cutting out, which against the British machines with carburetors was a considerable advantage.
The Emil's cockpit is the exact opposite of the rounded British canopies. It is made up of flat panes set into a firm angular frame, the hinged section opens to the side and the windscreen has a division of its own. On a model of around forty centimeters span every frame is clearly visible, so an uneven edge of paint catches the eye at once.
It is exactly the straight edges that make the Emil a rewarding target for pre-cut stencils: every part sits in its own field and does not have to be bent over a curve. The set holds two stencils for the canopy, one for the outer surface and the other for the inside, and five shapes for the national insignia.
Before application rinse the glazing and let it dry, because fingerprints hold grease and the stencil then lifts. After spraying take the stencil off before the paint has fully cured and the edge will stay smooth.
