HGW 1:24 Fokker Dr.I – mask set is a set of self-adhesive masks for painting a model of the German triplane of World War I.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of self-adhesive masks for a model of the Fokker Dr.I triplane in 1:24 scale. It is not a kit but an aid to painting: the masks are stuck onto finished paintwork, another color is sprayed over them, and once they are lifted off, a sharp transition stays behind without hand brushwork. The binding breakdown of the parts in the set is given in the enclosed instructions.
The Fokker Dr.I was a single-seat fighter triplane of the end of World War I with a rotary engine and a short span, which gave it exceptional agility and a fast climb. Three lifting surfaces one above another, an open cockpit and fabric covering mean a great many small areas and edges for a modeler, where masking pays off more than elsewhere. In the large 1:24 scale, moreover, every imprecision in the edge of the paint is immediately visible.
Stick the masks onto paint that is perfectly dry and ideally left a day, otherwise the adhesive risks tearing it away. Press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or a blunt wooden stick, so that no paint runs under them. Spray in thin layers and rather at right angles to the edge of the mask. Take the film off shortly after the paint has dried, not after several days – a fresh film separates more cleanly. Any residues of adhesive can be wiped off with a cotton swab dampened with alcohol, carefully and away from the decals.
The set contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
