A decal set for the Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc in 1:24 scale. It offers two markings options, one machine of the Turkish Air Force from 1942 and a second connected with the name of the Czech night fighter pilot Karel Kuttelwascher.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mk.IIc subtype received four twenty millimeter cannon instead of machine guns and so turned an aging fighter into an early attack platform. A burst from the cannon was short but destructive, and with it the machine managed night raids on airfields, patrols over the desert and convoy escort. A tall, sturdy landing gear and calm behavior on landing made the Hurricane a type that stood field conditions where more delicate designs suffered.
One option belongs to an aircraft in the service of the Turkish Air Force in 1942. Ankara remained neutral at the time and bought equipment from both warring sides, so British fighters carried Turkish national insignia. The second machine is connected with the name of Karel Miroslav Kuttelwascher, a Czech pilot of the Royal Air Force who made his name with night raids over occupied France and in a few months of 1942 scored a string of victories over German bombers returning to their bases.
Scale 1:24 forgives little. Polished gloss varnish belongs under the decals, because a matte surface traps air and a silvery veil appears around the motif. Let the motif come free on the paper, move it onto a dampened spot and straighten it gently while it still floats in the film of water.
After squeezing the water out, let the model stand until the next day and only then apply a matte or satin top coat. The set does not contain the cannon barrels or the model itself.
