Lewis Standard Type 1:24 is a pair of resin castings of the British Lewis machine gun in the basic version with a cooling jacket. It is an accessory for a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds two castings of the Lewis machine gun in the standard version, that is with the characteristic cylindrical cooling jacket around the barrel, in 1:24 scale. In a large scale the gun is one of the elements a viewer notices first, and next to a resin casting the plastic part from the box tends to look soft in shape. This is not an aircraft kit but an accessory meant to replace or add armament on a model under construction or already finished, on a figure or in a diorama.
The Lewis was a 7.7 mm machine gun working on gas operation, with a pan magazine mounted above the gun. The standard version is recognizable by the wide jacket around the barrel, which guided the cooling air. The gun spread into both ground and air service, and in the flexible installations of observers it stayed in use for a very long time, because it was light and easy for a single crewman to handle.
Before painting, wash the castings in lukewarm water with a little dish soap — otherwise the mold release agent keeps the paint from sticking. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a disc and level the area with wet sandpaper, with respiratory protection. It is bonded exclusively with super glue, cyanoacrylate. For painting, a dark steel primer coat works well, with a dark wash in the recesses of the jacket and fine dry brushing of the edges. The wooden parts of the stock can be suggested with a brown glaze over a lighter base.
This is an accessory, not a complete kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
