A plastic kit of the Mazda Familia Van of the 2018 model year in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima. While display cases are full of shelves of sports coupes, an honest working van off the Japanese streets is a refreshing rarity, exactly the kind of car you meet on every corner in Japan but only exceptionally in model form.
The Familia Van is a light commercial wagon for the Japanese market, the typical company car of tradesmen, delivery services and corporate fleets. The current generation is built in cooperation with Toyota on the basis of the proven Probox commercial model: a simple, practically equipped body, an economical four-cylinder engine and an interior designed for hard everyday work. The Familia name meanwhile carries on a long history of compact Mazdas reaching back to the 1960s.
Restraint suits a working vehicle: a white, silver or light gray body in a modest semi-gloss looks more convincing than a show finish. An interesting alternative is a company car with light patina, where a fine dust coat on the sills and wheel arches gives the model an authentic working character. The interior works in gray and black tones with the details picked out by a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
