A set of photo-etched parts for refining the plastic Mitsubishi Starion kit in 1:24 scale. It is not a car model but an accessory to one. Photo-etched parts are thin metal pressings that replace the elements which cannot be made in a realistic thickness in injection-molded plastic: grilles, meshes, hood catches, fasteners, brake discs and small items in the cabin.
The Mitsubishi Starion is a Japanese coupe with rear-wheel drive and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, built from the early 1980s. In Group A circuit specification it was one of the notable cars of the Japanese touring car championship. Its hallmarks are the wide fenders, the front spoiler and equipment matching period circuit practice, which are exactly the elements where a photo-etched set does the most.
Cut the parts off on a hard surface with a sharp scalpel or photo-etch scissors, never by twisting, or they will bend at the joint. Use a bending tool or two blades for the folds; long straight edges have to be truly straight, because every ripple shows on glossy paint. They are attached with a minimum of super glue, ideally applied with the tip of a wire, or with two-part epoxy where you need time to seat the part. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth brass. Leave the photo-etched parts for the stage when the body is painted and polished, since fitting them is finishing work.
This is a supplementary set, not a car model. The kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
