About product

Nissan Bluebird SSS-Attesa Limited U12, early version 1987, 1:24 (Hasegawa)

A plastic kit of the four-door Nissan Bluebird sedan in the SSS-Attesa Limited trim, generation U12, in a form corresponding to the early batch of 1987. The model is released in 1:24 scale by the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa, which treats Japanese sedans of the 1980s as a collector range of its own. The kit is unassembled and unpainted; the number of parts, the contents of the decals and the extent of the interior and engine bay are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

The real subject

The Bluebird of the U12 generation was built from the mid-1980s and in Japan belonged to the middle class, which at that time was leaning more and more toward a sporting character. The SSS version stood at the top of the range and the Attesa designation refers to the all-wheel drive system that Nissan was introducing across its model line at the time. The car was built on angular, sharply cut styling with narrow headlights and a flat rear. The early batch differs from the later model years in the details of the front grille and the equipment.

Building and painting tips

With car models it is the quality of the paint that decides. Wash the remains of the release agent off the body, spray a thin base coat and sand any unevenness with very fine wet paper. Apply the gloss clear coat in several thin coats and let it cure properly before you reach for the polish. Lay the decals onto a gloss surface and seal them with clear so that their edges are not visible. The chrome strips are best done with a thin metallic paint applied with a sharp-tipped brush or with adhesive foil. Paint and assemble the interior before you set the body onto the floor pan.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of Japanese sedans of the 1980s
  • Car modelers working in a single 1:24 scale
  • Anyone interested in the history of the Nissan brand
  • Builders who want to practice a gloss finish and chrome details

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
