An injection-molded plastic kit of a car in 1:24 scale from the Japanese firm Aoshima. The subject is the Nissan Skyline of the C210 generation in the 2000GT-E S version, with the type designation KHGC210, in its 1977 form. The letter E in the designation refers to electronic fuel injection, by which this version differed from the carbureted configurations. The C210 generation came in after the boxy C110 series and in Japan it made its name under a nickname tied to the advertising campaign of the time. The body kept straight lines and prominent round rear light clusters, which became an identifying feature of the whole Skyline family. The six-cylinder versions again had a longer nose than the four-cylinder ones and they were offered as a sedan as well as a two-door hardtop with no pillar between the windows. The end of the 1970s was moreover a time of tightening emissions limits in Japan, and fuel injection was one of the answers to them.
A pillarless hardtop means that the windows form one long clear surface and every fingerprint on it will show. Glue the clear parts only at the end, therefore, with cement made for clear plastics, and until then leave them in their bag. The round rear lights gain depth when you back them with silver paint from the inside and only then go over them with clear red. Spray the body in thin coats and sand the surface between coats with fine paper, wet. Lightly tinted glass and wheels with narrow tires suit the period look.
