The set holds information, prohibition and warning signs with lettering in German. It is a diorama accessory, not a kit of equipment: the signs are placed around a finished scene and give it lettering, context and a human dimension. The manufacturer offers them as the first set of a range, so a collection of signs can be extended step by step.
Lettering on a sign is the simplest way to tell a viewer where a scene takes place. The signs are placed at entrances, on fences, at banks, on the walls of buildings or on posts by a road. In 1:24 scale the text is legible with the naked eye, which is a rarity with dioramas and at the same time a commitment: a sign has to be straight, cleanly applied and suitably worn, otherwise it draws attention in the wrong direction. The German language variant suits scenes from a Central European setting; the same set also exists in an English version.
First think about where the signs will go, and only then glue them. Spray the background of a sign smoothly so that the text comes out well; enameled signs should have a slight gloss, sheet metal ones rather a satin surface. Realism is helped by fine rust around the bolts, small chips of paint on the edges and a light touch of dust in the lower part. Keep the posts darker than the sign and weather them lightly where they enter the ground. Clean the parts up and degrease them before painting; on fine castings super glue holds best.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
