A detail accessory for car models in 1:24 scale: a set of fifty miniature rivets, listed as version B. It is not a kit but a group of small parts used to fill in the places where a separate rivet or bolt should be visible on the model.
A rivet molded into plastic always has a soft, rounded shape — otherwise the mold could not be opened. A separate rivet, by contrast, stands above the surface, has a sharp edge and catches the light differently from the paint around it. The difference shows most on fenders, hood catches and frames, that is, wherever the detail comes into the light at a shallow angle.
Mark the position first and prick it lightly with a needle so that the drill does not wander. Drill the hole with a micro drill bit in a hand drill slightly smaller than the pin of the rivet — the part then holds on its own and the glue only secures it. Place the rivets with tweezers and bond them with cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a wire; excess glue forms a ring around the rivet that is hard to get rid of afterwards. Paint only once the rivets are in place, so that the joint is not left exposed, and if the rivets are meant to look metallic, leave them uncovered until the end and tone them down with a thin coat of varnish only. Work over a tray, as small parts are easily lost.
