This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from Hasegawa captures the Japanese racing prototype Toyota 88C in the specification for the American IMSA GTP series. The body is molded in white plastic and the enclosed decals carry the period markings of the car that started in the IMSA GTP class at Daytona in 1989. The Toyota 88C was an endurance racing prototype with a closed body, based in design on the Group C cars of the day and entered in the North American IMSA GTP series as well. These closed prototypes with a turbocharged racing engine mounted amidships were at the top of endurance racing at the turn of the 1980s. The car started in the famous twenty-four-hour race at Daytona, one of the most demanding endurance events in the world, where teams face a combination of high speeds on the oval and technical sections.
Spray the white body with the base color for the scheme you choose and go over it with a gloss clear coat, as a deep shine is essential on racing prototypes. Apply the extensive sponsor decals and race numbers over the dry gloss coat, let them dry thoroughly and then fix them with a further clear coat. Finish and paint the interior, the engine bay and the chassis before closing up the body. Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement and the small and clear features with cyanoacrylate glue, so that they do not fog.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
