The Brengun 1:72 photo-etched detail set for the two-seat trainer Ohka MXY7-K1 KAI adds fine metal parts to a model that cannot be cast in injection-molded plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an aircraft model but a supplementary set of photo-etched parts of thin metal sheet. It is intended for the plastic kit of the two-seat trainer Ohka MXY7-K1 KAI in 1:72 scale and replaces or supplements the parts that injection-molded plastic manages only in simplified form — typically the cockpit equipment, the belts, the instrument panel and small external details. Neither plastic parts nor a base kit are included in the package.
The Ohka was a Japanese rocket aircraft from the end of the Second World War, designed as a piloted attack weapon carried under a bomber. For training pilots the Model 43 K-1 KAI version came about, in which a second seat for a pupil was built in place of the warhead. The machine had one rocket engine, flaps and a landing skid, so it also allowed a training flight under power and a landing afterward. Only a very small number were made and they served exclusively for training.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with pliers — otherwise the sheet warps. Make the bends in a bender or between two blades, so that the edge is sharp and straight. It is glued with cyanoacrylate applied with a pin in minute drops; ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Before painting, degrease the sheet and use a primer suitable for metal, otherwise the finish rubs off during handling. In such a small scale it pays to work with tweezers with bent tips and in good lighting.
The supplementary set is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
