The Corolla Levin AE92 was a compact coupe with front-wheel drive and an inline four-cylinder engine. In Group A circuit racing it ran in the lowest capacity class, where reliability and smooth driving were what mainly decided the result, because the gap in power against the stronger classes could not be made up. The 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps was among the most demanding touring car events of the time — a long circuit, changeable weather and a night stint tested both the car and the team.
The body is largely covered with decals, so work with a gloss base and a softener so that the livery settles into the engraving and over the edges. The interior of a racing car differs from a production one in its roll cage and reinforced seats — it pays to finish it and try it dry before you close the body up. Knock the gloss back on the wheels and tires so that they do not look plasticky, and suggest the traces of a long race with a light breath of a dark tone. Seal the whole finish with a clear coat at the end, so that the decals do not stand out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
