A set of resin traffic cones in 1:24 scale from AK interactive. It is an accessory for car models, not a vehicle kit. Cones belong among the most universal elements of a scene at all — they cordon off the place of an accident, mark out a lane at a road repair, separate the space in front of a service station or suggest the course of an autocross track. Several cones on a scene also lead the viewer's eye naturally where you want it.
A traffic cone is a simple piece of equipment that has practically the same form all over the world: a conical shell of flexible plastic, a square base and a reflective stripe below the top. It is precisely the reflective band that is the detail not worth skimping on a model — without it a cone looks like a shapeless lump. Cones are permanently in service, so they tend to be scuffed and dusty and often have a bent top or one dirtied by tires.
First wash the resin castings with lukewarm water and dish soap — otherwise the remains of the mold release agent from the mold will not let the paint hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutter, and never break them off. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust does not belong in the lungs. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and ordinary glue for plastic does not work here. Apply a primer before painting, after which ordinary modeling acrylics are enough. The credibility comes only with the weathering: a dark wash in the recesses, light scuffs on the edges and dust pigment at the foot of the part.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a base and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
