A plastic kit of the Toyota Celica XX in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. The model belongs to an edition inspired by the series Yoroshiku Mecha-doc — a cult Japanese manga of the 1980s about a crew of car mechanics and a tuning shop, in which a whole range of Japanese sports cars of the day appeared.
The Celica XX is the Japanese designation of the large coupe that the rest of the world knows as the Celica Supra. The car combined a lengthened nose with inline six-cylinder engines and equipment aimed at comfortable fast travel — a typical representative of the top Japanese production of the first half of the 1980s. Its boxy design with pop-up headlights makes it a sought-after youngtimer classic today, and in the tuning culture that the manga captures the Celica XX was a popular basis for modifications.
The boxy body paints up easily — a primer and two light coats of paint are enough, and a gloss clear coat will then underline the period plastic trim and the chrome detail. The two-tone combinations typical of the 1980s can be managed with masking tape. The interior comes out well in matte shades, and the dashboard should be picked out with a brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
