The Brengun 1:72 plastic kit of the Japanese trainer Yokosuka Ohka Model 43 K-1 KAI captures the two-seat training version, not a combat machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale capturing the Japanese trainer Ohka Model 43 K-1 KAI with two seats in tandem. The model therefore does not represent the combat rendering but a training aircraft intended for preparing pilots. Its small size and simple shape make it a straightforward build.
The Ohka was a Japanese rocket aircraft from the end of the Second World War, designed as a piloted attack weapon carried under a bomber. For training, the Model 43 K-1 KAI version came about, in which a second seat for a pupil was built in place of the warhead. The machine received one rocket engine, flaps and a landing skid, so it allowed a training flight under power and a landing afterward. Only a very small number were made and they served exclusively for training; a few surviving machines are in museum collections to this day.
There are not many parts, so the preparation counts all the more: try all the main parts dry and remove the flash before you reach for the glue. Finish both cockpits before you close the fuselage, because the longer glazing leaves the interior nicely visible. The frames of the canopy are sprayed cleanly with pre-cut masks. Training machines had more pronounced recognition coloring than combat renderings, which you will appreciate as a modeler — it does, however, need a smooth base and thin layers of paint.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
