A printed sheet in 1:32 scale with five-color lozenge and a canvas texture, intended to cover the fabric areas of an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Lozenge is a printed camouflage pattern that was used during the First World War to cover the flying and fuselage surfaces of German aircraft. It is made up of a network of irregular polygons, here in a five-color rendering. Applying such a pattern to a model by hand is extremely difficult, because it repeats across the whole area and the individual fields have to run into each other over the ribs and the seams as well. A printed sheet removes that work.
The print is rendered in 1:32 scale and additionally carries a canvas texture. Thanks to it the surface of the model does not look like smooth sprayed plastic but like stretched covering cloth. The pattern is laid onto the model in pieces that the modeler cuts from the sheet to the shape of the area.
It is a flat printed sheet that is handled like a wet transfer. First spray the area of the model with gloss varnish so that no white edges form under the print. Soak the cut piece in lukewarm water, let it rest and slide it off the backing paper onto the moistened area. Settle it in position and blot the excess water with a soft cloth. To make the print settle onto the ribs and the irregularities, use a decal softener and let it dry without touching it. Finally overcoat the finished area.
The printed sheet alone is supplied. The model, paints, varnishes and decal softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
