A set of masks for the cockpit and the national insignia of the late Bf 109 in the G-6 version in 1:32 scale with two metal machine gun barrels of 13 mm caliber.
Responsibility details are not available.
The late Bf 109s left the green shades behind and moved to a pair of gray tones, because the war had shifted to high altitude and over Germany. Green fits when an aircraft is looked for against a forest, but at an altitude above eight kilometers the background is cloud and gray is less conspicuous there. The sides of the fuselage were given a cloud of small mottles sprayed so that none of them had a sharp edge; a blurred edge breaks up the outline of the fuselage, whereas a mottle with a sharp rim draws the eye instead. How heavily the mottling was done depended on the workshop, not on a regulation, so two machines of one unit could differ unexpectedly.
The package consists of film for the glazing for the outer as well as the inner side, three masks for the national insignia and two metal barrels for the machine guns of 13 mm caliber above the engine. It was their breeches that pushed the characteristic bulges into the engine cowling, by which the version is recognized at first glance.
More examples of this version were built than of any other and it flew on every front, from the north of Norway to the Balkans. That favors the collector: practically any theater can be built with one model, it is enough to adapt the shades and the additional markings. In the large scale the details around the engine also stand out.
A mottled finish is sprayed with a fine nozzle at low pressure and from close up, otherwise the edge of the mottle is needlessly blown out. The cockpit frames, by contrast, need covering that does not bleed anywhere, so press the film down firmly once it is applied. The cut of the masks corresponds to the Hasegawa kit in this scale and the plastic model is sold separately.
