This item is not a model of the aircraft and not a whole photo-etched set. It is a single finished part: an instrument panel for the early-production Gloster Gladiator Mk.I in 1:32, made of etched sheet and printed in color at the factory. The dials, the needles and the lettering are printed, so the panel only has to be taken out of the fret and glued into the cockpit. You do not have to spray it, paint it or stick decal dials onto it. This is how Yahu Models deals with the most visible detail of a cockpit with a minimum of work.
The Gloster Gladiator was the last fighter biplane of the Royal Air Force. It entered service in the second half of the 1930s, was powered by a Bristol radial engine and, compared with the older biplanes, brought an enclosed cockpit and four machine guns. The early Mk.I form differed from the later machines in details of the powerplant and the cockpit equipment, which is reflected in the look of the instrument panel. In 1:32 the cockpit is clearly visible, so a legible panel pays off.
First remove the original plastic panel from the model, or thin it so that the etched part sits at the correct depth. Nip the part out of the fret and level the edges gently with a file, taking care not to damage the color on the front face. It is bonded with a small drop of cyanoacrylate glue or with glue for clear parts, which dries completely clear. The dial glasses look better if you put a drop of clear varnish or water-based gloss varnish onto the printed dials. The panel is not oversprayed; a matte varnish would cloud the printing.
This is an accessory, not a model of the aircraft. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
