HGW 1:32 Light wood – yellow tone

A set of decals in 1:32 scale from the Czech manufacturer HGW imitating the structure of light wood in a warm yellow tone. These are wet transfers intended to imitate the wooden and plywood skin that the airframes of many aircraft of the First World War had. The decal is transparent, so the resulting shade follows the color of the surface underneath.

What the set is for

Wood decors make it possible to render the veneered and plywood areas of the fuselages, wings and propellers of period aircraft realistically, without laboriously painting the grain of the wood by hand. The yellow tone suits lighter, warmly toned wood. The sheet holds segments of the structure that are applied to the individual panels.

Use

• Apply onto a light, preferably white varnished surface, which will set the resulting tone
• Cut to the shape of the panel with a small overlap
• Release the decal in water, move it into place and press the air and the water out
• A decal softener and a decal fixer work well here, and once dry the excess is trimmed off with a sharp knife
